Kol Israel Foundation
Kol Israel Foundation (KIF) is a non-profit organization established in 1959 by Holocaust Survivors who settled in Cleveland. The organization initially functioned as a social community and extended family for the Survivors, many of whom were sole survivors of their families. In 1961, KIF built one of the first monuments in the United States dedicated to the six million Jews who perished in the Holocaust and has attained a historical marker awarded by the State of Ohio’s History Connection.
KIF’s Holocaust Education Program, Face to Face®, strives to counter the influence of historical distortion and hatred. Our program encourages moral development and fosters a sense of personal responsibility for students in grades 7-12th. Presenters share personal stories to humanize the experiences of the 6 million Jews who perished in the Holocaust. Offering firsthand testimony from a Survivor or their direct descendant is a more effective educational tool than anything students can read in a textbook.
